Nepal, officially the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal is a landlocked central Himalayan country in South Asia. It has a population of 30 million and is the 93rd largest country by area. Bordering China in the north and India in the south, east and west, it is the largest sovereign Himalayan state. Nepal has a diverse geography, including fertile plains, sub-alpine forested hills, and eight of the world’s ten tallest mountains, including Mount Everest, the highest point on Earth. Kathmandu is thee nation’s capital and largest city. It is a multi-ethnic nation with Nepali as the official language.

Pokhara and Lake Fewa

Pokhara is a sub-metropolitan, the second largest and the cleanest city of Nepal. It is the head quarter of Gandaki Zone and Kaski district. It is located 200 kilometres (120 miles) west of the capital Kathmandu.Despite being a comparatively smaller valley than Kathmandu, its geography varies dramatically within just few kilometres from north to south. The altitude varies from 827 metres in the southern part to 1,740 metres in the north. Additionally, the Annapurna Range with three out of the ten highest mountains in the world are within approximately 15-35 miles of the valley.

Fewa Lake is a freshwater lake in Nepal located in the south of the Pokhara Valley. It is the second largest lake in Nepal. Fewa lake is located at an altitude of 742 m and covers an area of about 5.23 square km. It has an average depth of 8.6 metres and maximum depth is 24 metres.

Seasons in Nepal

Nepal has six seasons

  • Basanta (spring): April - May
  • Grishma (early summer): June - July
  • Barkha (summer monsoon season): Late July - Mid September
  • Sharad (early autumn): September - Novemner
  • Hemanta (late autumn): December - January
  • Shishir (winter): Februrary - March

Kathmandu and the lake city of Pokhara generally have a very moderate, pleasant climate. The Terai lowlands witness a sharper summer and the mountains, a stronger winter.
Normal temperature in Pokhara is 10-32 degree celcious (without considering global warming)

You can either get a taxi from Pokhara Bus Park or Airport which costs about 500 to 700 rupees or we can send centre ̀s car to pick you up for extra charge of $10.
With second option you are getting a comfortable ride in a private car. And may be a hand with your carriage to the centre in the case you need it.

  • Welcome for peaceful stay
  • No intoxicants are allowed at the Centre.
  • Arrive at the centre between 3 pm to 6 pm (in summer), 3 pm to 5 pm
    (in winter)
  • Never enter drunk, late night and with violent and negative attitude.
  • Discipline is an integral part of the program and so the course routine must be strictly observed.
  • Have positive attitudes and open mind on learning yoga & meditation.
  • Remain quiet & peaceful while retreating yourself.
  • Avoid words and actions that constitute sexual harassment.

What to bring?

Torch light, water bottle, mosquito repellent (only for summer) towels (we also provide), sleeping bag (only for winter- Oct-Nov-Dec-Jan), hiking shoes and of course cheerful & healthy attitude.

Walking to the centre from Lakeside

If you prefer to walk to the Centre from the Lakeside (which may take around 30 minutes), walk north past the Three Sisters Guest House, Waterfront and the Green Peace Resorts. After Green Peace Resort you will arrive at a junction. Turn right up the stone track to Sarangkot (popular sunrise hill top point) and follow the signs to the centre. Click here for video guide
